Is this the most expensive car in the world?

Another week and another gold plated supercar has turned up in the cities of Europe. This one however could actually be the most expensive one yet but really who would buy it?

The gold plated Lamborghini Aventador was spotted cruising the streets of Paris.

As fashion week starts today, the car – which is valued at around £4 million and appears to be from Saudi Arabia – was parked outside the Plaza Athenee palace hotel on the luxury Avenue Montaigne.

Sporting a distinctive 666 number plate, the gold-plated supercar appears to be the same one which has been turning heads in the French capital over the past few days.

Car enthusiasts have filmed the gold plated vehicle, which features a 6.5-litre V12 engine delivering 692 hp, driving through some of Paris’s most exclusive streets.

The most impressive supercars, popular with wealthy playboys and mega-rich Arabs, are usually housed in the Middle East.

But they are often spotted on the streets of European cities over the summer months, when rich Qataris, Saudis, Emiratis and Kuwaitis move away to escape the Middle East’s baking mid-summer temperatures.

The vehicles – which act as a magnet for curious tourists and car enthusiasts – are tailor-made versions of famous models from car manufacturers such as Lamborghini, Ferrari, Bugattis and Bentley.

This summer a striking gold Ferrari sitting on Sloane Street in London drew a few admiring glances. Among the other supercars spotted were a £2.5 million premium LaFerrari, £2 million Bugatti Veyron and £700,000 McLarent.
But the gold Lamborghini parked up outside the Plaza Athenee suggests that the supercar summer is not quite over yet.

Last year, a model gold Lamborghini Aventador went on display at a showroom in Dubai to celebrate the manufacturer’s 50th birthday.

The gold vehicle had a pricetag of $7.5 million, making it the world’s most expensive model car.
Carved out of a 500-kilogram block of solid gold, the finished model contained 25 kilograms of the precious metal. The model was designed by German mechanical engineer Robert Gülpen and sculpted from the same carbon fibre used to make Formula One cars.

If your not keen on the gold plated look why don’t you save your millions and hire a aventador from us and enjoy all this car has too offer.

New Lamborghini Huracan Review

One of the most exciting super cars to come on the market this year is the Lamborghini Huracan.  It is the follow up and replacement to the very popular Lamborghini Gallardo which has been very popular with our customers.

However the Huracan is fast becoming one of our most requested cars and when you read this Huracan review it is easy to see why.

Click here to find out how much it is too hire a Lamborghini Huracan

With a price tag of 187, 000 pounds it has been put up against other similarly priced supercars such as the Ferrari 458 and McLaren 650S.

Now both of these are fantastic cars both in performance and looks so the Huracan is going to have to impress a lot to persuade potential owners to spend their money elsewhere.

New Lamborghini Huracan Review

Let’s start with the good bits – the best of those being the Huracan’s V10 engine. It’s basically the same one you’ll find in a range-topping Audi R8, but with power hiked from an already heady 518bhp to a mind-bending 602bhp.

It’s hardly surprisingly, then, that by any measure this is a brutally quick car. The headline figures of 0-62mph in 3.2 seconds and top speed 202mph tell you the Huracan is faster than a Porsche 911 GT3 and as-near-as-makes-no-difference quick as a McLaren 650S.

However, what they don’t tell you is how brilliantly the Lambo’s engine delivers all that power. It pulls effortlessly from barely above tickover, and because it doesn’t rely on a turbocharger, it revs cleanly beyond 8000rpm in a wonderfully linear fashion, without any uneven surges or flat spots.

Then there’s the sound. Even left in the tamest Strada setting, the V10 isn’t exactly shy about making itself heard. Switch to Sport or Corsa mode, though, and the decibels rocket as the engine howls loudly on full throttle and the exhaust pops and crackles when you lift off.

The new seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox (also borrowed from the R8) helps you make the most of the superb engine. Unlike the jerky gearbox in the old Gallardo, it’s smooth around town, yet super-quick to respond when you take control using the paddles behind the steering wheel.

Being four-wheel-drive, the Huracan doesn’t feel quite as delicate or precise as a McLaren 650S or a Ferrari 458 through corners. That’s partly because of the Lambo’s extra weight, but also because you can’t steer it on the throttle in the same way you can a rear-wheel-drive car.

The up side is that the Lamborghini feels less edgy on the limit than many of its rivals. That takes away a bit of excitement, but actually makes it easier for most drivers to make full use of the immense grip and traction out of corner.

It’s just a pity the steering isn’t a bit more rewarding. Sport and Corsa modes add more weight, but do nothing to give you a better sense of connection with the road. However, our test car was fitted with optional dynamic steering (£1788), so the standard set-up may be better.

You’ll appreciate the Huracan’s easygoing side when you’ve had enough of hooning around. In Strada mode, the ride is actually quite supple if you spec the optional adaptive suspension (£2520), and the car’s relatively compact dimensions and surprisingly good forward visibility (by supercar standards) make it easy to thread through narrow streets.

Even speed bumps don’t present a problem because an optional lifting system (£2628) allows you to raise the nose of the car by pressing a button, giving surprisingly decent ground clearance.

What’s the Lamborghini Huracan like inside?

As futuristic-looking as you’d expect a Lamborghini to be. From the fighter jet-inspired starter button to the digital display behind the steering wheel, everything about the interior Huracan’s is designed to grab your attention.

Most of the switches and dials aren’t as solid or as well damped as those in a McLaren or a Porsche 911, and there are some questionable plastics in one or two areas, such as above the glovebox – but you could level the same criticisms at a Ferrari 458.

Despite the flair, the basic layout is pretty intuitive, with logical controls for the air-con and infotainment system. Even the few idiosyncrasies – such as the indicator controls on the steering wheel and the fact you have to push the electric window switches up to get the windows to go down – soon become second nature.

The driving position is mostly excellent, with loads of adjustment to help any driver get comfortable. However, you might find the seatbacks are little unforgiving on longer journeys, although they hold you in place securely through bends.

As for boot space, well, there isn’t much at all, really. The small cubby under the bonnet is big enough for a couple of small weekend bags but that’s about it, while there’s a bit more space behind the seats to stow jackets.

You might imagine that a £187,000 supercar would come with all the standard luxuries you could ever dream of but that isn’t the case. Yes, you get climate control, leather seats and carbon-ceramic brakes, but have to pay extra for front and rear parking sensors (which you’ll want), electric heated seats, sat-nav, Bluetooth and even a DAB radio.

There’s no doubt the Huracan is the best Lamborghini for years. It’s jaw-droppingly fast, immensely capable and even pretty easy to live with – by supercar standards, at least.

The fact it’s so unintimidating to drive quickly is another big bonus for the average driver. It’s so stable and planted through corners that you can push it close to its limits without the fear of running out of talent and ending up going backwards into a hedge – something that isn’t quite so true of a Ferrari 458 or even a McLaren 650S.

True, this ultimately means the Lambo isn’t as rewarding as its key rivals when you’re right on the limit, and it’s also a shame the steering doesn’t involve you a bit more in the whole experience.

Nevertheless, if you want a high-end supercar that you really could drive every day, will still provide plenty of thrills when you’re in the mood and will wow every high street you drive down, the Huracan could be the one for you.

Hire Lamborghini Aventador in Malaga

One of our most requested cars to hire is the  Lamborghini Aventador Roadster. Last month saw the delivery of one of these amazing supercars to a client who was visiting the Malaga area.

Here is a picture of the happy customer (and who wouldn’t be ) collecting his car

lambo in Marbella

Apart from it’s stunning good looks the Aventador Roadster is an amazing piece of machinery and for those of you that enjoy the stats here are the numbers that make the  Lamborghini Aventador Roadster such an exciting car to drive.

The Aventador Roadster’s comes with a powerful V12, 6,5 liters engine that boasts a lofty 8500 redline, this beast of a motor makes 691 horsepower and 509 lb-ft of torque at 5,500 rpm.

When you couple that much power with the car’s Haldex all-wheel-drive system, what you get is a zero-to-62 mph time of just 3.0 seconds and a top speed of 217 mph. These figures put the Aventador Roadster proudly atop the Lamborghini’s convertible range and easily in the company of the most impressive drop-topsupercars in the world.

Fuel economy is likely the last thing on the mind of anyone considering a Lamborghini, but the automaker added two new technologies to the coupe – which also debut on the roadster – for the latest model year in the interests of efficiency and the environment.

The first, a start-stop system that shuts down the engine to save fuel at traffic lights or in stop-and-go traffic, is a supercapacitor-based system that’s both lighter and faster to restart the motor than a traditional battery-based system. The second is a cylinder deactivation system that shuts down half of the V12’s cylinders during light-throttle situations, temporarily turning the motor into a straight-six. When the driver lays into the throttle, the other six cylinders fire back up for full power.

Despite those technologies, there’s only so much they can do to enhance the mileage of the inherently thirsty V12 – fuel economy is rated at 10 mpg in the city and 16 mpg on the highway.

Shifting duties are handled by a seven-speed single-clutch automated manual gearbox that Lamborghini refers to as a robotized Independent Shifting Rods (ISR) transmission. Capable of blasting from gear to gear in just 50 milliseconds, it can be a bit herky-jerky at low speeds and isn’t as refined overall as the dual-clutch boxes used by some competitors. Lamborghini said it opted to use the ISR to save weight over a dual-clutch unit.

Helping transfer all 691 horsepower to the ground at all four corners are two different tires and wheel sizes – 255/35/R20 for front wheels and tires, with massive 335/30R21 wheels and tires for the rear. Stopping the big Lambo are 400x38m six-piston carbon ceramic brakes in the front, and 380x38mm carbon ceramic brakes in the rear.

Get the Aventador Roadster out to an empty, winding road, and the supercar will impress with its superb engine, accurate steering and excellent overall balance, though its girth prevents it from feeling truly nimble. Technically, the roadster’s torsional stiffness with its roof removed is 37-percent lower than that of the coupe, but most drivers will be hard-pressed to notice the difference on the road.

Beautifully modified Lamborghini Aventador

We didn’t think you could improve that much on the design of the Lamborghini Aventador, but looking at these photos we have now changed our minds!

Ever since the Lamborghini Aventador hit the road, we’ve become accustomed to seeing outrageously modified examples. The following example could take the cake as the most in-your-face we’ve seen to date. Created by Vancouver’s SR Auto Group, and featuring parts from PUR Wheels, the car is utterly insane and all the better for it.

blog_07232014_lamborghini_aventador_puraero_rs09_12-640x426 2

First off, this Lamborghini Aventador is finished in a bright shade of blue and is rolling on a set of the PUR RS09 wheels measuring 21×12.5 at all four corners. These wheels are unlike any others offered for the Aventador on the market and feature a brushed aluminium design with blue spokes and inners to match the paint job of the Italian supercar nicely.

Luxury car struggles for NBA Players

Two NBA players have been struggling with their man toys this week. Being at the top of your game is the best feeling in the world, but having to struggle and squeeze yourself into a luxury car is not a good look. Is forgetting to fuel your car even more embarrassing though?

We all know that NBA players can be well-compensated for the work they put it, and one of the more visible ways they tend to reward themselves for their hard work is by buying really nice cars. But with great vehicles come great responsibilities, as we saw through a few social media posts this week.

First, Bulls forward Carlos Boozer went to a dealership to check out a Lamborghini and posed for a photo inside the car. But as he discovered, it wasn’t the being inside the car that was a problem — it was getting out of the car…

Meanwhile, somewhere along a highway yesterday, Evan Turner‘s Ferrari ran out of gas. Luckily, one of his former Ohio State teammates was there in another car to not only get him some more gas (in one of those little red plastic containers), but also to document the incident on Instagram…

The latest craze for the rich in China

If you suddenly won the lottery and could afford a life of luxury, what would your first purchase be? A house, a holiday, maybe some exquisite jewellery? Well people in China are shunning these ideas and going for a more extreme and extravagant buy!

People act very strangely when they suddenly come into money.  Think of all the lottery winners who are famous for half a second and then mysteriously disappear.  If you ask any of them, they almost all say the same thing, “My life was actually more manageable before the money”.  For men and women in countries that have been poor for decades, but have suddenly reaped the rewards of globalization, the shift in fortune is even more dramatic.  When an entire country is seemingly wealthy overnight, people do some weird things.  Case in point – China.  A generation of men and women have made their fortunes by producing goods and parts more cheaply than anywhere else in the world.  They have been amassing their fortunes long enough that their children are now reaping the benefits of their business savvy.  As countless E! True Hollywood Stories have shown, there is little more dangerous, or ridiculous, than a rich child with no limits.  Such is the case in China, where immensely rich twenty and thirty-something’s are constantly on the lookout for new ways to both show off their wealth and entertain themselves.

A recent trend has been to paint or wrap luxury cars in gold.  Yep.  You read that correctly – gold.  It doesn’t really matter what car as long as the car is high-end.  This list seems to include anything by Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Infiniti, or BMW.  Oh!  Limousines count, too.  The general population seems to take these ostentatious displays of wealth in stride.  The bright gold cars are parked at malls and movie theatres like any other vehicle and nobody really bats an eye.  However, the cops have been known to confiscate one or two of the vehicles for being just too, too eye-popping.  It is hard to tell what constitutes too much versus all right when looking at a luxury vehicle wrapped entirely in gold, but apparently China’s police force has it figured out.

Gumball 3000 Rally to Go From Miami to Ibiza this June

The Gumball 3000 rally will be using its new route from Miami to Ibiza this June. Those of you that are fans of the Rally will be able to see its array of supercars this June, starting on the 4th and finishing on the 11th, after it has passed through New York, Atlanta, Edinburgh, London, Paris, Barcelona and finishing in Ibiza

The annual Gumball 3000 rally is a rolling 3,000 mile festival of crazy driving and debauchery that features the world’s most exclusive supercars. This year’s race, which costs about $40,000 to participate in, will travel across two continents and five countries with various parties, concerts and VIP events along the way.

Every major supercar marque — including Bugatti, Ferrari, Bentley, Aston Martin and Rolls-Royce — will be represented in this year’s event, which was first started back in 1999 by ex-racing driver, designer and British entrepreneur Maximillion Cooper (he also got engaged to singer-actress Eve December of last year). The 2013 rally from Copenhagen to Monaco was won by a team from the United Arab Emirates driving a custom Lamborghini Aventador.

This year’s event is set to be even more hedonistic thanks to a new partnership with AnastasiaDate, a leading international escort service specializing in beautiful Russian women. Two of the firm’s sexiest “employees” will drive a Lamborghini Gallardo Spider in the race in homage to the 1981 movie Canonball Run. Injuries along the route, which changes every year, are not uncommon — in 2007 there were even two fatalities — and cars worth a small fortune have been confiscated in previous years.

15 Classic cars that everyone should know about

The last couple of weeks we have shown you the luxury cars that are coming out in the future and the ones that are hitting the market now.

Today we thought we would take you back in time and look at the classic cars that define cool, style and speed!

We’ve overheard people say they don’t care what kind of car they drive as long as it gets them from Point A to Point B. Those people are liars. Who wouldn’t want to own a car that turns more heads than a bikini car wash? Maybe these guys have only driven used jalopies and don’t know anything else. Well, these are the cars they should know.

1966 Shelby 427 Cobra

Anything attached to Carroll Shelby’s name is immediately worth your time. With an insane power-to-weight ratio, the Shelby 427 Cobra has a bit more giddyup than your Corolla. Plus, the hundreds of thousands of dollars you’d pay for one will seem like chump change compared to the $5.5 million shelled out for the ’66 Shelby 427 Cobra Super Snake.

1961 Jaguar E-Type

Whether you pronounce it Jagwar or Jag-u-ar, everyone agrees the brand oozes style. The E-Type was released in 1961 to some pretty heavy praise. If Enzo Ferrari referred to it as, “The most beautiful car ever made,” well, that’s good enough for us.

1969 Maserati Ghibli 4.7

The aggressive shark-shaped nose on the Maserati Ghibli is enough to place it firmly on this list. Plus, the Maserati name earns it plenty of clout. Basically, this car is what the Mazda Miata dreams of becoming as it falls asleep at night.

1964 Aston Martin DB5

If it’s cool enough for Bond, it’s cool enough for us. If you had to pick one vehicle that James Bond relied on the most, you’d be hard-pressed not to go with the DB5, and the one from Goldfinger would look pretty sweet in our garage next to the cans of beer and lawn care products.

1957 Mercedes 300SL Gullwing

The doors are only part of the reason this is one of the coolest cars to ever hit the pavement. The fact that the 300SL was the fastest production car at the time, means driving to your ad meetings in Manhattan wouldn’t be a bore.

1969 Boss 429 Mustang

You know you’re getting some sick power when they have to change the body of a Mustang just to accommodate your freakishly large engine. How could you not want to roll down the windows and listen to that sucker as you were cruising around? (Which would be a good idea since, due to the size of the engine, they couldn’t fit in any air conditioning.)

1963 Corvette Sting Ray

While nothing was wrong with the Corvette prior to ’63, when the Sting Ray rolled out it made the previous models look like chopped liver (fast & still somewhat attractive chopped liver). Besides the new look, the C2 Corvette was a bit lighter and handled far better than its predecessors. While some nice stylistic changes would be made in the coming years, there’s something about being first.

1969 Ferrari Dino 246 GT

Far too often cars are rigid. The lines and angles are harsh and, unless there’s something crazy under the hood, they become a complete clone of something else. The soft lines on the Ferrari Dino 246 GT tells us this car is meant to be driven fast and playfully. If we had one, we’d oblige.

1966 Alfa Romeo Spider Duetto

Something about this car just makes us want to drive the Italian countryside while occasionally stopping to drink local wines. Plus, any time you can get a car with style AND storage space, well you just hit the jackpot my friend. It’s perfect for storing all the sheets of paper with phone numbers on them.

1969 Dodge Charger

If there’s one thing we know about the ’69 Charger, it’s aerodynamic. At least that’s what we learned from Bo and Luke Duke. The ’69 Charger is a thing of beauty whether it’s a General Lee or not. It may never get the billing its Mustang counterparts always do, but the fastback look and all American style will never go out of fashion.

1966 Lamborghini Miura

We don’t know if it’s the most stylish car on the list, but as far as cred goes, well it inspired the whole “Let’s toss a couple of seats on a rocket” sports car idea. It also became a new and different Italian sports car option outside of the Ferrari’s of the world for auto enthusiasts at the time.

1969 Toyota 2000GT

If you’re noticing a small Bond theme here, you’re totally right. While Bond got a drop-top, the ’69 Toyota 2000GT was stylish enough without one being offered up from the factory. The elongated front, along with the design in general, makes it feel much more like an Italian roadster than something you would picture purchasing for its “dependable gas mileage.”

1962 Ferrari 250 GTE

The Ferrari 250 GTE was the sports car for the family man. It was for the guy who wanted a Ferrari but also wanted to get little Timmy to hockey practice with all his gear. As Road & Track said, “A not only grand, but glorious, touring car.” We’d tack on cool as well.

1970 Datsun 240Z

The Jaguar E-Type’s Asian doppelgänger has the same beautiful look as the Jag with perhaps more brains underneath. The thought that went into the car became the hallmark of Japanese sports cars. See, being cool doesn’t just mean looking good (but it mostly means looking good).

1969 Chevrolet Camaro

It was pretty much a foregone conclusion that this list would include at least one Mustang and one Camaro. What can we say, we like old-school American muscle power. Seeing those white stripes on a blue Z28 just strikes us as quintessentially cool.
